Have you ever had a pet that was such a part of your family that you felt as if you lost a sibling? I know some may never understand while others read this with tears rolling down their face as they remember that special addition to their family. Now this wasn't just any old girl, she was a friend to all of us.
I remember picking up Cheyenne with my mom when she was six weeks old, the most beautiful black lab puppy I have ever seen. Days went by and she seemed to grow faster everyday, her loving spirit grew twice as fast as her body did. She was loyal and kind...she was good with all the kids from the start, she would let them climb all over her as if she had no care in the world. She saw me grow through many stages of my life....high school, getting married, divorced and then married again, she was around when I was pregnant with both kids and my daughter especially was able to bond with her as well. She has always been here......
Just a few weeks ago we all came to the realization that Chy was no longer feeling well, the age had taken a toll on her body, 15 years old for a lab is a long life and she lived it well. As my mom fought back the tears and called the vet to make the appointment I was flooded with memories and emotion, it was time for her to go. I went with my dad to have Chy put to sleep, hardest thing I have ever done. As the vet came in and gave her the shot I saw her slip away, her lifeless body laid on the ground while through my tears I told her how much I loved her and how thankful I was for having her in my life and loving us all. She gained her Angel wings while we all were left with a little less of our heart. Pets to me ARE family, saying goodbye is never easy and I miss her everyday. Chy you will always have a piece of my heart <3
Goodbye old friend!
